First League Win of the Season

I think it is fair to say that was an entertaining, incident packed game.

Thanks to Tim for organising the team and to Steve for running the line and to all for finding it!

Tim set out a specific tactical approach and explained what he wanted of all players before the game started and I am pleased to say that the boys didnt disappoint and followed his instructions, and then some! We were playing football like we want to play football, with quick decisive passing, confident and correct positioning and shape and our general demeanour put us on the front foot from the very first blow of the whistle. This told very quickly as we were 1-0 up within 1min thanks to a Sam R goal assisted by Roman.

We carried on playing this way and soon Will added a 2nd assisted by Conor and before the 10min mark Conor made it 3 assisted by Oli. The goals came thick and fast, despite a couple of dodgy offside decisions, and within 30mins we were 9-0 up, thanks to our fourth from Sam R assisted by Will, two more from Conor, both assisted by Sam S, a further from Roman, who then assisted our 8th scored by Sam S and the 9th by Harry assisted by Conor.

We had an unfortunate hand ball in the box which led to their penalty which they converted and we finished the half at 9-1.

At half time the players were altered a bit and 4 subs in the centre of the pitch were made, and this change took a little while to bed in but the second half soon delivered with Sam R scoring our 10th assisted by Dylan.

We then did loose our shape a bit and didnt play the same, partly due to the score line, but it soon came back and we were awarded a penalty in the 52nd minute which Ellliot converted, so it was good to see him on the scoresheet.

Further goals followed thanks to Sam S with Els assisting, a further 2 from Conor assisted by Sam R and Els, and our final goal from Will with Conor assisting that one.

Toward the end we were reduced to 10 players but by then the damage had been done and we won by a huge 1-15 margin.

In all we played really well, some of the passages of play were great to watch with one touch passing, as Tim says, 'Liquid Football'. Also our vision throughout was superb with some magical through balls.

We musnt kid ourselves as the opposition were not the best, but we definitely stepped up from last week and if we play the way we did we will be able to beat much tougher teams, and they will come.

Well done all, it was great to get three points on the board, but mostly to see some really nice football and for us coaches to see that the boys can listen and play as we ask. Lets hope that many more points follow, and they will if we carry on playing that way.

Training on Monday and next Saturday!

Have a jolly weekend.
