Our First Restart Win!

What a cracking game, well done to all the boys for such an amazing effort...

We new we were going to have a tough game the opposition have beaten us before, but in those games it had been very close. We also new that the player numbers was going to make it hard, fortunately they only had one sub too so we were even matched on that front.

It was clear from the get-go that our boys were going to put the drills learned and tried on Wednesdays into practice. The creation of space, the fast and decisive passing, the tracking back and covering team mates and communication was top notch. Every single played had a superb game and everything came together just perfectly.

We got off to a good start with Sam S scoring two goals within 20mins assisted by Conor. Jude picked up an injury early on and we soon had to swap out and were now down to just 11 players. But the game management was great and all the boys were able to conserve energy for the right time and ensure that all were able to play the full match.

At 37mins we conceded and this highlighted that the game was going to be hard and it was far from over, but Sam S restored our two goal advantage at 41mins again assisted by Conor.

The opposition then came back at us again and we were 3-2 a minute later. But we kept going and ensured that we maintained our advantage, during the next 15 mins we could have added a few more to our tally, but had chances just wide or over. However, Conor got the 4th at 66mins and our two goal advantage was restored and the win was definitely in reach.

Sam S scored his 4th just before the end with a wonderful solo effort from the half way line, brushing off players as if they weren't there and we ended up winning 5-2.

A beautiful day (albeit a little chilly) made a lot better with our first restart win.

Well done all it was a fabulous watch.

Thanks as ever to Jeff, James and Paul today and Julian and also to Tim for running the line and helping with set up, along with Emma, and to Carys for a great game. And again thanks to other parents for helping with the clear down.

See you Weds and we are home again next week against Bexhill.
