A Tough Return

That was a very tough return but nevertheless its great to see some live football and great to have the boys back...

This was always going to be a tough game as the return has been quick with the restrictions only lifting on Monday, so to have a single training session and then be straight back in, it was going to be hard work. Our reduced fitness and stamina was clear to see, and they seemed to have a better starting point, additionally they had 5 subs and we had 1 and this was telling as they could constantly bring on fresh legs and we were tired pretty soon and seemingly exhausted by the end.

The surface was slower than expected but was first class, but we started slowly and allowed them in too quickly. We weren't closing down and at times were just left standing. Their first came just 5mins in and we within 20mins we found ourselves 3-0 down.

Sam R pulled one back to 3-1 before the break and we were able to catch our breath.

At the break it was clear that the next goal would be vital and would probably determine the way in which the game went.

We started the second half really well and played some lovely football, and it seemed like we were back to our old selves.

Unfortunately the first second half goal went to Ringmer at around 42mins which made the score 4-1 and it was going to be a tall order to claw it back, and this was worsened at 52mins and we were 5-1 down.

We made what changes we could throughout but it was clear that the legs were tired...

Sam R scored his second at around 63mins and again we showed what we can do. But that was where it finished 5-2 to Ringmer.

Our second half was far superior to the first and we had a few chances that on another day we would have taken.

So in summary, it wasnt the result we wanted or expected but we played well considering it was the first time back, our legs were tired but the performances from all were great, so well done all and thankyou. And thanks for parents for following the guidance.

Also thanks to the boys for being so respectful during the minutes silence it was great to see them all following it.

Thanks to Paul & James and to Tim for running the line.

See you on Weds for training, and at the Rec next Saturday!
