Heathfield & Horam U13s vs AS Eastbourne

That was a very tough game, which was fully expected but nevertheless it is always difficult.

That said we all held our heads and never gave up, for which we should be very proud.

The game started really fast, we never really got going and before we knew it we were one down. We were just outplayed and by the end of the half we were seven down. We were just a little slower to react and allowed them too much time and space.

However our second half performance was completely different. We tightened up at the back and they struggled to get through and we were much stronger up front also and we created many more chances and were unlucky not to get a consolation goal. We kept their play back and prevented them from playing in the same way as they did in the first half. They did score mid way through the second half but we held them there.

The result was 0-8 with the first half being 0-7 and the second half 0-1, so there is no two ways about it, the boys never gave up and came out into the second half with a different attitude towards the game and that paid dividends and we almost matched the opposition. The second half was great to watch.

Well done all, we should be pleased that we kept our heads high and we played right through to the final whistle.

Thanks to Steve for running the line and to all helpers with putting everything together before the game and then clearing away afterwards.

We have lots to learn, and we will, but it is clear that we wont give up and that it a fabulous trait to have.
